"Dang those crazy gnomes build big ships."-A Hero
Submitted by rook103 on Wed, 05/05/2010 - 23:20Last week I was trying to catch up on my Google Reader feed, when a post by ChattyDM caught my eye. "The Briarthorn Needle, Gnomish Airship" was a neat mini campaign he was rolling out. In the post found here, he inserted some photos of the game's battlemap depicting the aforementioned Airship. It got me thinking, since we at the Lords of Tyr use MapTools, what would our map look like? So I took Chatty's pictures, the Great Cloud Caper, and cracked open Photoshop to see what could be done.
I started building the Main Deck, since I needed a place for spatial reference.
I flushed out he captain's quarters a bit and modified one of the cannon rooms.

Podcast topics...
Submitted by rook103 on Wed, 04/14/2010 - 20:46Random podcast Toepick!s for Sunday!
Since we skipped the last podcast in observance of a holiday...
1.) Where are all the 3.5 DMed games at? Hello!!!!! I hear no random banjo playing undead strolling swamp trudging happening anywhere! While I appreciate the rolling up the 4 Ed game week in and week out, I'm sure Rob would like to play a game once in a while too! And that damned Temple, now that the party is there...what happened? Is this like Carlin's take on golf? You wear silly clothes, hit a little white ball and walk out and try to find it. If you do you win? You found the Temple, so the party won? Where's all the XP and gold? Just curious.
2.) GenCon happiness. Anyone going? I know the Suttons have their family booked, is anyone else?

4th Ed Class Matrix.
Submitted by rook103 on Sun, 03/21/2010 - 09:594th Ed's PHB3 brought us the host of Psionic Classes and a few ringers...the Seeker a Primal controller and the Runepriest a divine leader and all of the Hybrid rules.
Now I know the assassin is a dirty word as it is DDI exclusive, but I found it very interesting that the assassin hybrid rules were released at the same time as the PHB3. So It makes me wonder, since they dedicated the time to update the assassin to be inline with the other classes, do they have any other Shadow Power sourced classes in the wings (also to be DDI exclusive or not?)
What other classes would we like to see? Glaringly there is a hole in the Martial Controller spot, so much so that there is a group manufacturing solution for it. Yours truely is also working on a Martial Controller as well. (Googledocs 4th Ed classes, page 2).
Thanks

2011 Campaign Setting for DnD?
Submitted by rook103 on Sun, 03/21/2010 - 09:52There's been much chatter on the forums about the 2011 Campaign Setting? What do the Lords/Ladies think?
2008-Forgotten Realms
2009-Eberron
2010-Dark Sun
2011-Planescape?
Thanks.

How to totally screw up a game night...or: Welcome NEW Characters!
Submitted by rook103 on Mon, 03/15/2010 - 12:30Well...So the beginning of the module starts off "So the Party Arrives in Overlook". Except that we, the party didn't. We did however, met a creepy guy on the road, got him drunk, listened to him blather on in an obtuse manner and then our teen-aged wizard reacted, poorly is an understatement to his rantings. One thing led to another and here we are rolling initiative for intraparty combat. Interesting... Syed attempting to belay violence intercedes but to little effect. In a blur the Hurricane and Loki were at it. Syed glanced around the group and everyone's facial expression pretty much told the story "Let them fight it out and if murder occurs, present the murderer for justice". And so on and so on...
Insert best line of the night: "Ok, I drink it!"
End combat here with the Kalashtar laid out and the craven testosterone crazed wizard running off into the woods with the ranger and wolf in hot pursuit.

New Characters in our Scales of War Game.
Submitted by rook103 on Sat, 03/13/2010 - 23:46Appearently all new party members will have to be "jumped in" gangland style to join our party!
Best line of the night...when the Goliath is thrown a potion of Healing for a downed comrade, he catches it...saying "Ok, I drink it" and then quaffs it.
