No More PDFs?!?! - Bad Move - I agree with the Lords
Who did not have a PDF copy of the 4E player's handbook before it shipped? How well did that sell? So what are they worried about?
People like me like paper books. I can take them in my car and read them while I am eating dinner when I stay late at work and take them game night with me. They smell better and look better. Most of the time it is cheaper than printing out the PDF. Even if I had a laptop I will not be out not out $400 - $1500 if I lose it.
People like me download the PDF to check it out and see if is worth purchasing. If it is good, then unauthorized PDFs = Big Buzz = Sales. If it is bad = I figure out sooner rather than later I do not want to buy your book. I think I am the average Joe. And no PDFs will mean less buzz and less or slower sales to people like me.
How much you want to bet they prove my theory and will be sitting around and wondering why after making this move they did not get a positive boost from this. Also, if sales slow down they never put 2 + 2 together.
