First, I would like to welcome Christian! An out-of-towner who had never played D&D before, but had played on WoW, he did an amazing job in playing his character. Heck knows he did tons better than then first time I played D&D. Hopefully he will get a chance to game with us again next time he is in town.

In attendance this session...

1) Todd (DM)
2) Justamere (Warforged with a thing for helping gnomes) (Tony)
3) Yattannee (Human Tribal Druid)(Brian R)
4) Yoric (Half-Elf Sorcerer) (John)
5) Zathrus (Kobold sorceror) (Tim)
6) Xander (Dark Speaking Warlock) (Mike)
7) Rhiannon and Grimtooth (The crazy wolf girl and her pet wolf)(me)
8) Nailghus (Human Monk) (Chad)
9) Westminster Jones (Book loving Human)(Ashby)
10) Crispin (Human holy man)(Christian)

The game started with the group awakening after an anxious night sleeping in the ogre's quarters. Healing magic was dispensed, but it was decided the group might have to risk another night to get back to full health. It was around this time the Westminster Jones revealed he had limited spell-casting abilities that and could assist with the healing. From the relish with which he used these abilities it seemed as if they were new (or perhaps gleaned from the magic book he had been reading).

Zarrakaf was sent to check on how Hesir of Wotankeld was doing maintaining the base camp. The gnome was asked if he wished to go with him, but choose to stay with Justamere for the time being.

The unconscious human woke up and introduced himself as Crispin. Crispin was from a distant village (or at least one none of the characters had heard of). He fell defending it and woke up in the dungeon where he was subjected to the ogre's "tender mercies". Thankfully we arrived before he ended up in the ogre's stomach. He seemed a decent fellow so he was armed and allowed to remain with the group (for mutual protection).

As the group was resting, with several under the care of others trained in healing, Rhiannon noticed something concealed enter the room. She quickly sent Grimtooth to corner the thing, which he did. It quickly became apparent that it was some form of miniature dragon with the power to conceal itself and wicked barb on its tail. Rhiannon quickly declared the thing "cute".

It attempted to communicate telepathically with several members of the group, but none of them knew draconic. It did seem to laugh at the group as they argued about what to do. It finally began to talk telepathically with Zathrus, who knows draconic. Although he didn't tell the group he was in contact with it, Zathrus attempted to find out what the "honored one" was doing there. However, Xander attempted to hit the thing with his Eldritch Blast.

At this point Zathrus turned his crossbow on Xander, threatening to shoot him again unless he stopped. Yattannee, ever the peacemaker, attempted to interpose himself between the two combatants, putting his life at risk. Xander continued to attack the dragon heedless of Zathrus' reaction to the creature. Zathrus obviously did not like this, and threatened to attack Xander if he attacked the creature again. Because of this threat, Xander attempted to shatter the great crossbow of Zathrus, though failing to impose his will on the Kobold. As a reaction, Zathrus shot past Yattannee and hit Xander in the same spot on the shoulder, knocking him out cold. Justamere, protecting a non-kobold arcanist, then proceeded to put a pick through Zathrus, nearly killing him.

During this time the pseudo-dragon slipped out, cackling to itself the whole time.

Sighing about redoing perfectly good healing, the healers in the group went to work on the pair. At this point it was discovered that Zathrus was actually a kobold in disguise, at least if you consider wearing a masked robe, gloves, and boots a disguise.

The group then proceeded to expend its remaining healing capability and attempt to venture forward (very concerned that another night's rest might bring enemies to their door). Yattannee expressed his concerns about the bad blood brewing between Xander and Zathrus to several party members, as well as his concerns about their unpredictable behavior.

The group proceeded to a cell block area where a truly ludicrus ammount of zombies began to pour out. Worse, from the opposite direction came a couple of zombies much larger than he ones coming from the cell block.

Crispin used his ability to Smite Evil to seriously wound one of the large zombies. Several other party members began attacking the foul things, but quickly realized that their weapons (mostly blunt and piercing) were not very effective. Yattannee remembered the party had found several scimitars in the ogre's room and ran back to get them.

Once Crispin was able to dispatch the larger zombies, he turned to aid his comrades who were close to being overwhelmed by shear numbers. Wesminster Jones managed to keep a large number trapped in a room by holding the door.

Meanwhile, Zathrus used his magic to gain control over one of the zombies, which he then set against its brethren to keep a group of them at bay (the zombies proved relatively immune to the blunt damage he could cause). Yattannee returned with the scimitars and the party soon found itself doing much better against the foul undead creatures.

The grim work continued. Finally, only one zombie filled room remained. Not wishing to risk their lives further, the zombie under Zathrus' control was given a scimitar and allowed to dispatch the others.

At this point we broke for the night.

As always, please let me know if I forgot anything or messed something up. Thanks!

The fight between Zathrus

The fight between Zathrus and Xander turned out a little differently. Xander continued to attack the dragon because of Zathrus' reaction to the creature.

Thanks!

I updated the fight. I knew I didn't quite have it right, because I seemed to rememeber that you never attacked him, but kept up on the pseudo-dragon. But I couldn't remember how Zathrus went down, since I had forgotten Tony's roll.

Sincerely,

A Hero
