(Insert eye catching inflamatory title here)

Ok, so since we seem to have reached an impasse, perhaps we should discuss potential solutions to this issue. We have all been gaming together for years (some as many as 10 or more) and I feel we should be able to get past this. Our host was kind enough to start a mass email on the topic, but I feel that it might get the attention it deserves here. It is my hope that we can stay constructive in this thread so that others may potentially benefit from our ideas. I am sure that we are not the only group with people on both sides of the 4e fence. So What things can we do to make this enjoyable for everyone?

Well, I have done my part.
Rhiannon, the crazy wolf girl, has been leveled up to 5th Level and sent to Todd as requested.

Also, I think all these posts lately have been awesome!
Diversity and good well discussed disagreements are amazing intellectual entertainment. We should flame war a lot more (in the nicest way possible of course!).

More Awsomeness!
I agree about the posts being good for us. I feel that we have underutilized this wonderful resources that Chad has provided us, and full well intend to keep using it as my soap box. Ok, maybe I will focus on getting my game going more, but believe that you will hear from me from time to time. I think it is great to have all the participation we have had thus far, even from those misguided enough to disagree with me. :)

Would you like to play a game? [in a computer generated voice]
I for one would be OK with getting Todd's game going again. I'd be fine with doing a different game altogether, Star Wars perhaps, or even something like a spy or superhero type game. However, I really enjoyed our characters and the general story line of Todd's game and I miss strangling the shit out of bad guys with Nailghus my crazy sword hand monk!
How about we do Mike's awesome Elemental game on the first Saturday of the month and an alternate game on the 2nd saturday. I'm still hoping that the alternate game will most often be Todd's! But heck I'm willing to do anything. I enjoy gaming and haning out with all of you so much it really just doesn't matter what we do as long as we do something. :)

Ok, I think things have gotten a little out of hand...
Ok, I think things have gotten a little out of hand for a game that is supposed to be a stress reliever.
Seriously, I think the best solution is the simplest. I know Todd has been talking about restarting his D&D 3.5 Temple Game. Mike is currently doing his D&D 4.0 Planar Game. Why don’t we just run them both once a month like we used to?
If anyone doesn’t want to play in one of the games because of the edition of D&D, or any other reason for that matter, that’s fine! Seriously, you should be coming to this game because you are having fun, not because you feel some “obligation”.
I am sure most of the group will simply play in both games. If some people don’t go to one or the other, frankly the group size is large enough that I doubt it will cause issues with gameplay.
Or to put it another way, I like the people I game with. They include some of my oldest and dearest friends. But last night I found myself in a three hour conversation arguing the relative merits of the two editions! It was an exhausting conversation after an exhausting day.
So I give up. Lets just run both editions once a month. Bronz, I understand it will be tough for you to get the same level of enjoyment out of D&D 3.5 that you used to. Todd, I know you just can’t seem to get into D&D 4. But it’s the only option I see that will satisfy most of the people most of the time.

I'm not sure this is a 4e
I'm not sure this is a 4e thing or something else, but as I have nothing else I will go on the assumption it is a 4e thing. Personally, and obviously, I am very pro 4e. I am usually very gung ho whenever any changes come around, and give these changes the benefit of the doubt. I was the same way with 3e, and I think the same people who are change averse were the same way back then. Something else that is the same as it was back then is I cannot see myself getting the same enjoyment out of 3.5 as I used to, with the knoweledge that there is a system like 4e out there that we are not using. I would however go back to it, if it meant continuation of good times had by all.
After all that though, my suggestion would be a possible shift in what we game with. For the longest time, we have been a DnD only group, though some of us with a system or two outside of that scope. I would love to move on to a different system, if only for a bit, to try other things out. And i'm not talking about another system that is DnD lite, I'm speaking of a totally different system, like White Wolf or some such. That may give us all a chance to see something new and get our minds off of DnD.
However, because this would be a change, it may simply cause the same problems we have now. I'm just not sure.
Sadly, I don't think that
Sadly, I don't think that going back will solve the issue for many of us, and at least a few people will be just plain upset by retro-converting. This is your game, and you have every right to run it in whatever system you choose.
On the other hand, I am actually a fan of finding some other game system for a secondary game, though I think that it might be a challenge to find one that can appeal to everyone's tastes. Perhaps we could continue on as is and rotate the games a little more often?
Is there anyone with the desire to run something a little different?
PS: I suppose I should say that I was indeed resistant to 3e. In fact, I remained in the no 3.0 camp the entire time, though I embraced 3.5 pretty quickly. The reason for this is that I actually do generally like to read new games, but I don't always feel that they are an improvement. In some cases I clearly do, which is why I am torn on 4e. There are many features that I suggested in the dnd forums back in the day, but there are obviously things in 4e that drive me batty. It is still my hope that this will be solved as the game matures.
