After the last battle, the party holed up for the night in the cell area where they had encountered Ipswitch the gnome.  After the extended rest Duamerthrax & Deifenbacker, Hurricane, Vala, and Tuldil'el left to take Sir Tanian the Castellan back to town.  

Nebin and Syed realized that the "cells" in the larger area of mausoleum were fake.  In fact, it was a cruel jest of the goblins, meant to desecrate the area.  Nebin seemed to care, so he told the rest of the group we should do something.  Wardren and Almirith laid the bodies to rest in a proper "human" manner.

Continuing down the tunnels, the group came to to a set of stairs leading up to a landing covered in webs. 

Ettercap Encounter (3 Ettercap Faneguards, 1 Ettercap webspinner)

Surprise round

Sam attempts a sly  flourish but failed to penetrate the exoskeleton of the Ettercap webspinner. Noble Wardren charged the nearest creature, and hit it with a resounding blow from his great axe.  Niles threw out taunts against the beasts.  Syed the pirate shot one, causing massive damage.  The bold halfling Nebin charged one with his mighty warhammer.  Almirith moved to cut off any possible retreat of another of the creatures.

Round 1

Sam dealt a critical blow to the middle Ettercap Faneguard slaying him. Syed counters by moving into the fray and striking a nasty blow with a well placed toss of his dagger. Wardren's great axe strikes true again against his opponent, bloodying him. The devious drow mentally attacks the bloodied Ettercap Faneguard leaving him befuddled and believing he was attacked by the Fey noble. The Ettercaps finally get to attack! The webspinner reviews his options and determines the paladin looks like an obvious target. Wardren finds himself enshrouded in the gooey mess. He is also poisoned, in preparation for dinner.  Almirith is similarly webbed, but uses his tactical knowledge to move Syed into position.

Round 2

Sam rushes into the webs and hits the webspinner with a dazing strike. However, Wardren and Almirith managed to break free of the webbing and the combined attacks of the group made quick work of the remaining Ettercaps. Soon only one ettercap remained.

Round 3

The quick hand of Sam brought death quickly to the remaining ettercap. 

Investigating the room, the corpse of an unfortunate townsperson and a silk bag of holding was found webbed to the wall.  Both were cut down, and the man was laid out on the floor.  The bag of holding (given to Niles) contained 680 GP, 8 healing potions, Battleforged Plate Mail +1 (given to Wardren), a basket of everlasting provisons, wavestrider boots(given to Syed), a duelist dagger +1 (Given to Syed), an Amulet of protection +2 (given to Niles), a flaming longsword +1 (given to Niles), a staff of winter+1 (saved for Hurricane), and 100 Residum.

The party could either go through the door or up some stairs.  Nebin suggested going through the door, so the group did.  The group found a hallway covered with skins. A hobgoblin and his pet drake were guarding a hallway with wrought iron spiral staircase.  Sharp-eyed Syed saw the wily gnome Ipswitch escaping up the iron staircase.

Hobgoblin Encounter 

Round 1

Syed tosses his new magical dagger and assaults the hobgoblin. Almirith charges and attempts to slash the brute, but the hobgoblin dodges the blow. Niles imbues his mockery with a supernatural viciousness, injuring the very mind of the hobgoblin. Wardgren steps up to show us how its done, striking mightily! The hobgoblin retaliates with a vicious blow, stunning the paladin.  The drake attacks the paladin who harmed his master with a vicious bite.  The slippery squire moved up to cover his master's backside. 

Round 2

Syed, annoyed with the drake, shoots it. Almirith, in a stunning move, swings his sword while teleporting directly behind the hobgoblin, removing the creature's head from his body.  The drake howls in fury and attempts to bite back. Reinforcements begin to arrive at the bottom of the stairs. Moving with unnatural swiftness, Sam attacks the drake with a sly flourish, causing amazing amounts of damage. Sam then proceeds to move to the base of spiral staircase and uses a blinding barrage of daggers to kill four of the hobgoblins coming down the stairs. In a wise tactical move the hobgoblins decide to back up and shoots Nebin. Niles uses tricky drow magic and surrounds the hobgoblin on the stairs in dark fire. Sam pulls some crazy monkey nonsense and scales the inside of the spiral staircase to peg the darkfired hobgoblin.

Round 3

Nebin begins making his way up the stairs, but encounters hobgoblin resistance.  Almirith is stuck behind him, and prepares to surge forward the instant there is a clear path. Similiarly, Wardren is caught behind Almirith.  Seeing this, Sam and Syed begin climbing up the center pole of the spiral staircase.  Niles continues to toss vicious mockeries at the hobgoblins, singing some ditty about the hobgoblins "What Not to Wear" appearance..."those hot pink tights...belong on a ballerina, not in the middle of fights, tinkerbellarina..."

Round 4

Syed bounds up the stairs like a monkey on speed.  Almirith sensing a break in the enemy lines, directs his squire into a tactical move and then runs the hobgoblin through. The hobgoblin archer retreats... 

Round 5

Syed drops down onto the floor and puts the pistol to the hobgoblin's genitals and pull the trigger.

With the final hobgoblin dispatched, the Stormlords take in their surroundings.  They are in a tomb.  On the wall is written: "Here lie the Rivenroars, until the day of the black sun, if you seek their monument, seek their monument."  

A large amount of  treasure is present (parcels d,e,f).  Sorting through it will occur at the begining of the next game.
