The Escapist Interviews Andy Collins and Liz Schuh of WotC

I really enjoyed the interview. It covers a lot of ground. The first part focuses a lot on the genesis of 4th Edition.

Andy Collins: ... And as far as the transition from 3rd to 4th, the thing I like to say is it took the company going out of business for going from 2nd to 3rd, and we weren't really eager to replicate that business model. So rather than wait until it was too late, we decided to be a little more proactive there.

How about a happy D&D Story Now? How D&D Can Make You a Better Writer

After that last article I thought we could use a positive D&D story.

In the wake of the D&D Essentials (D&D "Basic" set is back!) release later this year, some writers share their thoughts on how playing D&D helped make them better writers.

"Those three years playing D&D at boarding school did more to ground me in storytelling, plot construction, and sheer, raw imaginative throughput than any other single activity of my life."

D&D Experience and a New Play Experience

D&D Experience and a New Play Experience - D&D Encounters begins on March 17 by exploring the iconic dungeon of Undermountain. [Wizards of the Coast D&D]

Are you looking for something to do for 1-2 hours on Wednesday nights? Well Wizards has something for you! Get thee to a your local Wizards Play Network store starting on March 17th!

There you will find an on going game where one encounter is played each Wednesday night. Players and DM's get rewards. Players can build up points that can be used for current or future D&D Experience encounters.

"DMs get rewards too! In addition to the player rewards in the D&D Encounters kit, there are also special rewards for the DMs, consisting of valuable game aids and other cool specially-made, not-available-for-sale items. Each new season will bring a different DM reward in the kit."

Hmmm. I think some DM's will come out of the woodwork for this one!

Wizards Annouces the End of the Star Wars RPG

Greg Yahn, Director of Marketing at WotC, posted an announcement on the Community forums.

"After a lengthy evaluation, Wizards of the Coast has decided not to renew the Star Wars license with Lucasfilm. We’ve had a long and fantastic run, but with the economic downturn, we have made the tough decision to discontinue our Star Wars lines."

Rodney Thompson, lead designer of Star Wars, posted about it as well.

"I'm proud of the Saga Edition books, and think that there's a lot of great gaming in them. I know it'll be my go-to RPG for Star Wars for the foreseeable future.
