Listener Email: What is that 4E Framework You are Using?
Submitted by Chadarius on Sun, 08/22/2010 - 12:08From Listener Elliot:
Hey Chadarius,
First, love the podcast. I've been listening since episode 1 and enjoy your tone and topics every time. Now, in episode 37 you discuss an add-on or some kind of program where you take a 2 page pdf of your character sheet/monster stats and drag it directly into MapTools, creating macros for each PC/monster power. We also use the MapTool and I would love to add this to our repetoire. Can you send me the link where you found this great tool?
Anyway, I'm at work so I'll cut this short, but thank you in advance and I look forward to hearing from you. I may pick your brain further for more MapTool info since you guys seem to have it pretty well nailed down and we are still learning of much of its functionality.
Elliot

The Table of Tyr and Maptools Update
Submitted by Chadarius on Sun, 04/18/2010 - 17:26Mike and I are getting back in the groove again after a little hiatus. The Table of Tyr specs are getting solidified and it looks like we'll have a prototype in the next 4-6 weeks.
What are we building? I'll tell you what!
We are building 3'x5' rear projection multi-touch table for a fraction of the price of Microsoft's lame "Surface". When used in combination with some awesome open source projects, including RPTools, we will be able to use not only our fingers to control our characters through the Maptool interface, but we will also be able use miniatures as well!
Mike is working on some really cool tech for the miniatures and I'm working on the parts and tech for the actual table. We will be posting more information as the table becomes "real" over the next few weeks.
Our goal is to have something that is relatively portable and really really useful. Our gaming lives will soon change forever by combining the best of our technology and the fun of using miniatures!
What tech are you using in your games? What would you like to see in a digital gaming table? Leave us some comments!

How the Lords of Tyr Got Started and Stayed Together
Submitted by Chadarius on Sun, 11/15/2009 - 17:17
The Lords of Tyr started back in October 2002. I still have the email that Brian (aka the Dark Lord of Bartlett) sent out with his address. The group really came about by Rob (aka A Hero) overheard Brian and I talking about GenCon one day at work. Brian, Chad (that's me), Rob, Bob, Kazi, and Ashby all worked in IT at a very large financial institution together. Ashby and had already been very involved in Ultima Online as well.
Once Rob new that Brian and I both played D&D, the idea just grew from there. Rob had a group of guys that he had played with on and off since high school (and some even earlier than that). That included TJ (aka Hiregoon), Todd, and Tony. Bob also brought a friend, John. This formed the core of our group at the beginning.
